Homemade Christmas Food Gift Ideas

A DIY hot cocoa mix is easy to make and you can personalize the recipe so that itโ€™s perfect for your friends or family members. You can customize with flavored sugars or holiday spices and then pack it up all nice in a fancy mug, presented with mini marshmallows and maybe a special little spoon for stirring.

Another DIY food gift idea is to make up a DIY cookie mix. These are super easy and you can give them away in pretty jars, tied with some ribbons or attached with festive labels! The recipe itself will depend on your tastes but itโ€™s basically just all the dry ingredients that go into making cookies (flour, sugar etc.) combined into one DIY kit. These are better than giving cookies as they turn anybody into a chef and can be made at leisure rather than having to be eaten quickly before they go stale!

And, don’t forget about making my amazing homemade Dead Sea Granola. It’s going to be a huge hit gift!

Humans have been making fermented hot sauce for hundreds of years and now you can make it and give it as a gift too. All you need to do is make brine with 1 part salt to 20 parts water in a giant pan and then use it to  cover your chillies and aromatic flavours like garlic, herbs and spices in a jar. Leave it to ferment for two weeks and then strain the brine and reserve, blitz up the other ingredients and add the brine until you get the consistency you’re looking for. All you have to do then is bottle it up and make it look pretty.

Another tasty DIY food gift idea is to make up DIY spice blends. You can choose whatever spices you fancy to mix but could look for spice inspiration online. You can then buy decorative jars and make some simple DIY labels to attach, like the ones you see at hipster cafes with handwritten notes on them (if thatโ€™s your style).

Who wouldn’t want to get a jar of delicious preserved lemons!

Another DIY food gift idea is flavored salts that you can make yourself. These are super easy but they will look fantastic on display in any kitchen when presented in pretty jars or DIY shakers. You can make up any flavour you like but lemon and garlic, chili flakes or mixed herbs are all popular choices that you could experiment with!

Along with salts, why not make some exotic spice mixtures like these that I absolutely love! I guarantee your friends/family will love. Plus, give them recipes that I’ve created with both!

Another unusual DIY food gift idea is to make some chocolate covered pretzels! These are super easy and taste delicious, the only problem being how quickly they disappear from your recipientโ€™s hands when you give them away as gifts.
