Art of Skincare
What’s the largest organ in the body? The skin! Yep, it’s that important. And, it’s even more important to take good care of it.
Now please don’t shoot the messenger. This is simply what thousands of you on social media have asked me to do! Describe my skincare routine. Share the products I use.
At my young age, level 7 of life, I’ve been practicing skincare religiously. You can even check out what I was doing at the age of 45!
What is a Good Skincare Routine
The best morning skincare routine for me is one that’s predictable, simple and easy.
I follow these steps every morning come rain or shine. Cloudy days. Sunny days. Whatever.
I do make some adjustments for my daily skincare routine if I’m planning on going outdoors. Another adjustment I make is where I am located. If I’m at about sea level and at our coastal Carolina home where it’s humid, I know that my skin is getting more hydration.
However, if we’re in Colorado where it’s dry, well, that’s another story. I have to adjust to compensate for the dryness. This usually means that I’ll use a more intensive moisturizer.
Same with the sun block I’m using. If I’m going to be outdoors at eight to nine thousand feet elevation, I know that the sun rays are more intense and can be quicker to damage. So, again, I make adjustments in what I put on my skin to protect it. And, I always wear hats and sunglasses.
Best Skincare Routine
So, let’s talk about what I think is the best skincare routine for the morning. It’s different than my skincare routine at bedtime. And, if you’d like to check that out, then just click here!
With these steps, I usually wait about 30 to 60 seconds between each application. I might brush my teeth. Go make the bed. Throw a load of laundry in the washer. Anyhow, just a little time to let the application sink into the skin then on to the next step.

Sometimes I’ll rewash my face first thing in the morning with my One Skin or Proven cleanser.
At other times, when I’m feeling really clean, it’s just simply, water. Many mornings all I do is splash cool water on my face. Maybe three splashes. Then I gently pat dry with a clean wash cloth.
My skin type allows me to have this flexibility. Now if you have oily skin, then you might want to use a cleanser every morning. For me, sometimes I do a quick cleanse and sometimes it’s simply cool refreshing water begins my morning.

Your skin under and around your eyes is thin and delicate! You use your eyes all day and the surrounding muscles for things like blinking, squinting, etc.
Using an under eye cream specifically blended for evening and day is important to protect and help this skin.

My product every day is my Proven Daytime.
It has the combination of ingredients created specifically for my skin based upon my questionnaire results. In other words, it’s personalized skincare. My skincare type is unique to me as yours is to you. Therefore, why should we all use the very same products with the same ingredients. Make sense?
With Proven Skincare, your products are formulated to your responses to the artificial intelligence used for this skincare line. If you’re interested in learning more, click here, and if you decide to try, use ALLY99 at checkout and you’ll get a nifty deep discount on your order.
And, yes, there is sunscreen/sun block in it, but if I’m going to be in more intense sunshine, then I do add more sun block, which is below.
Additional Sunblock Daily
Since I know I’m usually in/out of the house and in more direct sun (especially hiking or biking), I add more sunblock. Not only to my face, neck, chest, but also arms and legs.
These products give me the added protection that I need.
With the One Skin SHIELD, there is tinted and UN tinted. The tinted only gives a slight hue to the face. I find that it kind of evens out the skin, and after putting on, I can dust a little blush brush and feel like I’ve got some ‘makeup’ on, too.

Good Skincare Products
These are the products that I’m currently using. Over the decades of learning to take better care of my skin, I’ve tried a lot of products.
Keep in mind that products have changed dramatically, too, over the decades. When I was a teenager and in my 20s, there wasn’t much more than Ponds, Avon, Oil of Olay, Egyptian Magic and Vaseline. I can’t remember ever purchasing a sunscreen or sunblock.
Thank goodness I decided at about 26 that being a sun goddess wasn’t good for me. I just didn’t like the burn and peel and redness that it created. Plus, I felt like a piece of bacon frying in a hot cast iron skillet. Oh, the damage that causes!
Now, skin care products abound. So many choices. And, that’s where it gets complicated and confusing.
For me, I want natural. I want products that don’t have all those chemicals and bad things in them that aren’t good for your body. So, as I share with you my morning skincare routine, I’ll also share what I use.
My skin is mature yet vibrant. I want my skin care products to reflect those features.
Skin Care Brands
It’s never too late to start a healthy skincare regime. Remember it’s not just what you do on the outside, but on the inside too. Here are a few MUSTS:
- Don’t smoke. If you smoke, stop.
- Drink lots of water. Hydration is key to skin health.
- Eat healthy. Cut out junk food. Fast food. Lots of vegetables, meats and natural ingredients. Make sure your plate looks like the rainbow with lots of colors.
- Don’t worship the sun. It’s a real thrill kill for your skin.
- Be active. Move. Get exercise. Do something that involves activity, gardening, walking, biking, hiking, climbing steps. Just move.
- Sleep. Get consistent restful sleep. It’s when the body rejuvenates itself.
Just know that once you institute a routine for pampering your skin, it takes at least six to eight weeks to even see small minor changes. They’ll be subtle, but it’s happening.
Don’t be impatient. You’re in this for the long haul as in until the day you die. And, when you do, make sure someone does your routine on your face for you! You want to look your best as you float through those pearly gates! xoxx ally
