5 Ways To Welcome Positive Energy Into Your Home

Many people think that to have the “perfect” home, they need to have matching throw pillows, matching bed sets, and a Pinterest-worthy home office. But that doesn’t necessarily ring true. When you’re trying to welcome positive energy into your home, you might assume you need to completely reinvent your house or give it a “makeover.” However, the process is much simpler than you may think. Read on to learn a few easy, thoughtful ways to allow your home to reflect a calmer, cozier feel.

Let In Natural Sunlight

A great way to bring more positive energy into your home is to open the windows and allow natural sunlight to pour in. The sun provides a significant source of vitamin D, elevating one’s mood and alleviating symptoms of anxiety and depression. You can’t beat the happiness that the sun naturally brings.

When you wake up, open the curtains throughout your home to let the sun in! If it’s nice outside, you might even open the windows to allow a nice breeze to refresh the space.

Declutter

Clutter is essentially an accumulation of “stuff” with no designated space in the home. Let’s face it: everyone has clutter in their homes. But we may not realize how much it affects our mental health. Clutter or an untidy environment can be a significant cause of stress due to the constant stimuli of “things,” pulling our focus from more important matters.

It might seem overwhelming at first, but try to declutter your home room by room. Start with a smaller area, setting a timer to 15 minutes and cleaning as much as you can. That way, you’re setting aside a specific amount of time to complete a task. If you feel inspired to finish the area, excellent! If not, you’re already off to a great start, and you can finish when you’re ready.

Decluttering your home will automatically improve your mental health and help you feel more comfortable. A clean space is a positive space.

Use Calming Scents

Have you ever smelled something that immediately brought you back to a different time in your life? Our sense of smell can have an overwhelming effect on our minds. When you smell a particular scent, the scent triggers a message to your brain’s limbic system, which controls emotions and memory.

Try using calming scents throughout your home, including:

  • Lavender
  • Rosemary
  • Vanilla
  • Lemon

These scents are known to calm the mind and reduce anxiety, helping your home present a “happier” vibe and remain a place you want to be.

Show Gratitude

We tend to compare our homes to others and often forget what we already have. Gratitude is a great way to bring in more happiness and even more things to be grateful for. Marie Kondo has it right: thank your home for what it does for you, and appreciate what you have. Simply showing gratitude toward your home will bring positive energy to it.

Bring In Nature

Bring in nature with plants, gemstone décor, flowers, and more. You might even place a bird feeder outside your window to interact with nature through your home, helping the space feel happier and more positive.

These five ways to welcome positive energy into your home will help you develop a sense of calm and happiness as you declutter, show gratitude, and welcome in sunlight.
